In my column for Canadian Dimension this month, I argue that the election of Olivia Chow as Toronto Mayor calls, not for passivity, but for intensified community resistance and social mobilization.
Unfortunately, although there are some like Clarke who will try to organize the left and pressure so-called progressives like Olivia Chow (recently elected mayor of Toronto), I suspect that there will be insufficient political pressure to force her to institute her election promises related to housing policies and transit, among others. She will probably be voted out of office in 2027 as a right-wing backlash arises.
