John Clarke, former major organizer for the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty, recently posted the following on Facebook:

If you want to understand the ability of Washington to decide the parameters of the murderous brutality being unleashed on Gaza or the relationship between US imperialism and the garrison state of Israel, take note of this comment. It was spoken by Israeli Defence Minister Yaov Gallant at a session of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and reported in the Times of Israel today. Gallant “was pressed on why the government agreed to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt before the hostages have been returned” and this was his reply.

“The Americans insisted and we are not in a place where we can refuse them. We rely on them for planes and military equipment. What are we supposed to do? Tell them no?”
