The Uprising of Indian Farmers

John Clarke, former major organizer for the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP), posted a few days ago the following:

The Indian farmers have again risen up and are demanding guaranteed prices for their products. After an initial attempt to intimidate them, Modi has reluctantly entered into talks, though the outcome of these is uncertain.
If there is a social force that can challenge the neoliberal course and hateful Hindutva divisiveness of the Modi agenda, it is the united farmers’ movement. He has learned to his cost to be wary in his dealings with it.
