Today, unfortunately, it is raining, which probably influenced the small level of support (a few hundred, perhaps) for the student protest that demands that the University of Toronto expose investments in companies that profit from exports to Israel. Some union supporters were present, as I indicated in my last post.
The University of Toronto had offered to set up committees to investigate the issue–a typical bureaucratic tactic that postpones such disclosure indefinitely into the future.
In response to the continued protest, the University of Toronto has now sought a court injunction against the students.
It will be interesting to see whether the union movement will support the students if the court orders the students to clear out, the students refuse and the police try to clear them out.
